Worship

Worshiping the one, true, and living God is our highest duty and supreme joy, as God’s people draw near to the thrice-holy God’s heavenly throne of grace through Christ’s blood (Hebrews 10:19; 12:22-25).

In worship, we give God the glory due Him (Psalm 29:1-2) in word, prayer, and song; in the forms of confession, adoration, thanksgiving, etc. As God is invisible, true worship is by the eye of faith, not by sight. Worship is not through images or icons, candles and incense, nor fog machines or showy musicians and ministers. God Himself is the focus as we worship by His Spirit according to the Truth of His Word (John 4:24).

Worship is a covenant family gathering, led by God through His Minister, by whom God calls His people into worship. God’s call to worship includes our young children, our heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127). Jesus said they belong to Him and His Church/Kingdom (Luke 18:16), and He received their praise in the Temple (Matthew 21:16). As we in Jesus Christ are now God’s Temple, God grants our children to worship Him and hear His Word! Do not fret over the coos and cries of your babies, for our Lord receives and blesses them (Mark 10:16).

Weekly, Lord’s Day/Sunday worship is both reverential and delightful. So sing heartily, pray fervently, confess the faith sincerely, and listen attentively to God’s Holy Word. God is well pleased with such worship, and by it He feeds our souls so that we grow in Him.
